Arrival in England/ Day One

Well the beginning of the trip started out a little shaky. Our flight from Savannah to Atlanta was delayed 30 minutes. The plane ride wasn’t too bad since it was a short flight, only 41 minutes. However, we landed in Atlanta at 8:15 in terminal B and we had to sprint through the airport to get to terminal E, to find out that everyone had already loaded the plane.  3 out of the 5 girls were able to scan their ticket and get on with no problem. My ticket and another girl’s ticket (for some unknown reason) had been rebooked for the next flight to Manchester (which was the next evening.) The Delta check in lady was very sweet though and tried to get our tickets fixed…. While all, what seemed like 288 people, aboard the plane were waiting on us! Then the Delta lady fixed the other girl’s ticket but was still working on mine, but she told us to go ahead and get on and she would fix it.  Whew!! By this point we were sweaty and a little irritated. But we get on the plane and found our seats and took off.
We were served dinner on the plane. I chose chicken; ha, go figure. But it was pretty good. I had a small salad, chicken and stuffing, and a few carrots and a little bit of spinach. Also, a roll and a slice of cheese and for desert a Brownie! Not to bad Delta! Now it was time for sleep…..well have you ever tried sleeping straight up and trying not to disturb the person next to you??? This was the awful part. I think I got about 2 hours of real sleep on that plane ride! I will be buying a neck pillow for the way home, or if there is enough money left I might upgrade to first class! Ha! Anyways, we arrive in Manchester. Going through customs was kind of scary. It was drop dead silent and they asked a million questions.
Next to find our luggage at the baggage claim. Everyone starts grabbing their bags while I am patiently waiting for mine to appear. Finally I gave up and went to the lost luggage office. I filled out a form and they told me my suitcase would be delivered to our apartment the next day. Then we had to find the train station and buy our tickets. This was not too difficult. We finally boarded the train and pulled all our luggage aboard (well everyone except me). The train ride was a little over an hour long. Once we arrived in Sheffield, we took a taxi from the station to our apartments. There driving is so scary. I was just waiting for a wreck to occur. But we arrived safely at our apartments. Our apartments are very nice. Im in an apartment with 4 other girls. So there are 5 of us total. Everyone else shares a bed with another girl, however I lucked out and got a bed by myself.
Next we quickly freshened up and went out to explore the town. We quickly found a pub/restaurant called the Beehive! It was so cheap and yummy! Then we walked around a little bit and found a grocery store, which was very different! They don't even keep their eggs in a fridge! ewww nasty. After this we came back to the apartment and got settled in and went to bed.
On Sunday, we didn't wake up until 12:30. I called the baggage people to see where my luggage was and they said we needed the post code to be able to deliver it. So hopefully it will be here tomorrow (Monday).  Then we got dressed and went sight seeing. We also went to a store called TK MAXX similar to TJ MAXX back home.  So I could buy an outfit for tomorrow. Then as a whole group we went to eat at a Mexican place called Las Iguanas. It was pretty good. After that we walked around a little more and then we came home.

Oh I forgot to mention that it is FREEZING cold here and the wind blows CONSTANTLY!!

Oh well.... Thats is for today. I think I have caught you up on everything!
Pray that my luggage arrives tomorrow!!
I am off to bed now... Considering it is 11:10pm our time and we have to be up early in the morning.

Hopefully I will get another post on here tomorrow!

Lots of Love,
KM
